Strategic Management
The value of design in business is becoming increasingly more apparent. As a design manager I can speak the language of designers and the language of business professionals. While in school I studied the principles of strategic management through the examination of case studies and the development of my own business scenarios. I wrote the following case study for Pfizer Inc. just after their merger with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals was announced in January 2009. The case study examines the health care industry, external environmental factors and internal factors that Pfizer faces. From that research I developed a two, five and ten year strategic action plan for Pfizer to keep them on their successful path well into the future. The action plan is focused on three main onjectives over the course of ten years:
2 Years Generate Buzz: Word of Mouth.
5 Years Think Preventive, Not Reactive.
10 Years- Stealing the Thunder.
